Education

Introduction

Trajal is a two-year college and prepares students for specialized positions within the hospitality industry.

Their preparation involves a balanced, three-pronged approach through which they learn not only up-to-date Professional Practical Skills that can be put to use immediately in their new jobs, but also receive a comprehensive grounding in Basic Business Skills and Manners that allows them to function efficiently in a modern office.

Training in these two skill areas is backed up by our distinctive approach to communicating the Notion of Hospitality so they can learn to practice hospitality from their heart. Indeed all programs at Trajal can be thought of as consisting of three main elements: business knowledge, hospitality and communication, and professional skills.

Tokyo and Osaka

Our balanced approach to education

Length and Term of Study

Almost all programs at Trajal are two years in length. Each academic year consists of approximately 35 weeks, divided into three terms. The new school year starts from April and ends in March. There are substantial holiday periods in summer, December to January, and March

Study Tours

Each program at Trajal features two study tours during the two years. Students generally make one domestic and one international tour to a destination related to their program of study.

Many foreign tourist offices have been assisting in the planning and conducting of these tours as a means of developing an improved understanding toward the destinations they offer.

Internship

With the cooperation of a number of organizations in the hospitality industry, a large percentage of our students take advantage of the opportunities we offer to work as interns and gain practical experience in the particular fields they are preparing for. Generally lasting from six to eight weeks, these internships are offered in the summer months but may take place at other times as well. Students who are placed in internships are expected to perform as regular staff members and carry an appropriate burden of responsibility.

Study Abroad Program

All students at Trajal can elect to study abroad at one of two destinations, one in Seattle, USA, and the other in Melbourne, Australia. A 10-month study-abroad term (which also features an extensive pre-departure program) and a shorter three-week experiential study-abroad term are available. Students stay with local families for the duration and undertake not only an intensive study of English, but also take courses in their own specialized disciplines. This program has been a very successful one for students who wish to improve their English communication skills. The average TOEIC score achieved by those who have participated in these programs is 580 points.

Special Seminars and Exam Preparation

Trajal offers a unique selection of special seminars to students, ranging from extra programs in basic subjects such as destination studies or English, to sign language courses, experience of outdoor tours, training in mixing cocktails and many others. Trajal students also can take special intensive courses to help them prepare for various examinations, national and otherwise, which when passed can serve as important qualifications to gain employment.
